Bakers In Romance Books

Happy Tuesday, romance bookworms!

Over the weekend, I read Battle Royal by Lucy Parker and it got me thinking about how many fun baking-themed romance books we're getting this year. As you may already know from my Instagram account, I'm a big fan of all things baking. Some people (*cough Mae*) even think I have a secret bakery where I'm concocting all sorts of sugary treats! I thought it would be a fun idea to put together a list of some new, upcoming, and past releases with bakers or pastry chefs because it seems on-brand for me.

I hope you enjoy this compilation!

Battle Royal by Lucy Parker

I'll have my review up closer to the release date but I loved Battle Royal. It's grumpy + sunshine and both characters own bakeries right opposite each other. The plot revolves around the two competing for the opportunity to bake a wedding cake for an upcoming royal wedding. You also see them judge on a show reminiscent of The Great British Bakeoff. It was magical and swoony and just exactly what my brain needed.

Sweethand by N.G Peltier

Sweethand is a childhood nemesis-to-lovers romance set in Trinidad & Tobago and it is delightful. The heroine, Cherise, is a delightful pastry chef who cooks up a ton of delicious treats in the book!

Rosaline Palmer Takes The Cake by Alexis Hall

Rosaline Palmer Takes The Cake is an upcoming title from Alexis Hall. I haven't read this book just yet, but with a title like "Rosaline Palmer Takes The Cake", you know it will deliver on the baking goodness. Our protagonist, Rosaline, gets the chance to compete in a national baking show and perhaps find love!

Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan

Kristen Callihan's Make It Sweet dishes a former hockey player who also happens to be a secret baker/chef who woos his love interest with food and pastries! He is extremely swoony and this book is a delight that's not to be missed!

Sugar Butter Flour Love by Nicole Falls

Sugar Butter Flour Love has a very fun baking show set-up. A pro football player is paired up with a talented baker on a baking show. Oh, and these two have some friction between them because of their past. It's a novella, but I had a really fun time watching these two dance around their feelings for each other and cook up all sorts of fun food!

The Chocolate Kiss by Laura Florand

Laura Florand has plenty of books featuring characters who are either pastry chefs or chocolatiers. I'm choosing to feature The Chocolate Kiss because it's my favorite book from her. The romance is antagonistic at first but the chemistry is so hot. I wouldn't be mad if someone manifested Phillipe's macarons for me right this moment.

The Donut Trap by Julie Tieu

The Donut Trap is an upcoming romance title that I haven't read yet but that I'm very excited to pick up. There are donuts involved and that's all I need to know!

The Sweetest Fix by Tessa Bailey

The Sweetest Fix by Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite reads of the year. If quiet, gruff, cuddly bakers who are 1000000% into their love interests are your thing, then you need to read it!

The Remaking of Corbin Wales by Roan Parrish

The Remaking of Corbin Wale promises hints of magic and a bakery. That sounds absolutely delightful to me and I desperately need to pick it up!

Donut Fall In Love by Jackie Lau

Another upcoming donut book, this time from Jackie Lau! Donut Fall In Love's protagonist, Lindsay, has a bakery where she makes specialty donuts (yum)! The love interest signs up for a show called Baking Fail and asks Lindsay for help. This whole premise sounds adorable!

Deeper by Robin York

Most of the books I've featured in this post have been light-hearted, but Deeper (and it's sequel Harder) are a little angstier and explore some darker themes. It's written by Ruthie Knox and is a NA romance. The hero, Wes, works part-time at a bakery and there are some sexy scenes of him kneading dough. ;)

Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron

I nearly forgot to add Accidentally Engaged to this list but thanks to Marcia for reminding me. It would have been a crime because I absolutely loved this book and it's a book that means a lot to me personally. Reena, the protagonist here, loves baking breads of all sorts. She even has a sourdough starter!
