Love Scammed by Rilzy Adams did a good job at reminding me that I need better friends because none of my friends have ever tried to set me up on a blind Caribbean island vacation with a sexy man! I'm OFFENDED! Now, that that's out of the way, let's chat about Love Scammed. What can I tell you about Rilzy Adams' books? They are a whole lot of fun! I always leave her books feeling like I had the greatest time and had the best laugh. Love Scammed was no different. The book starts off with Monae, annoyed as hell, because her meddlesome friend, Tempest has scammed her into taking this girls trip without her. She soon finds out that this is all Tempest's plan to get her to hook-up with photographer Hudson. The girl is irritated but she soon strikes a conversation with Hudson and she can't deny the chemistry simmering between them. When they finally reach their destination of Turks & Caicos, the tension is undeniable and both realize that they will eventually be giving in to their attraction. As I said, this book is very entertaining and Rilzy Adams' characters make the story all the more enjoyable. Monae and Hudson have a great dynamic and watching them become comfortable with each other as they vacation and explore the island is a treat. As with Rilzy Adams' other stories, Love Scammed delivers with some high heat - yes, we get pseudo-public sexy times again! I also really enjoyed the fact that there was no external drama - this was a very low-key love story and I was into that! Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a quick steamy read!

Kristen Callihan is one of my auto-read romance authors. When I heard that Make it Sweet featured a hockey player who likes to cook and bake, I knew I would be reading it as soon as it released. And, phew! What a fantastic book this was! I love how Kristen Callihan's books continue to have the perfect balance of sweet and sexy. And ooh boy, was this one both incredibly sweet and sexy! This is the love story between Lucian, an ex-hockey player, and Emma, an actress whose character has just been written off a famous Game of Thrones-esque show. They meet at Luc's grandmother's sanctuary where Emma escapes to for some reprieve. They are both at a standstill when it comes to their careers so they connect on that front. Though they don't get off on the right foot, they can't ignore the sexual tension between them. There's a lot I enjoyed about this romance but it was the banter and chemistry that really kept me invested. Oh, and friends, there's the only-one-bed trope! I know how much some of you enjoy that trope so that should convince you to give this book a go! Lucian and Emma were both great characters, with plenty of strengths, vulnerabilities, and self-doubt. It was nice to see them mesh so well together once they began talking about their feelings. I loved how Lucian showed his affections using the food he cooked and the desserts he made - talk about swoon! Speaking of food, you are definitely going to want a snack when you read Make it Sweet. I also liked how the author had us empathize with Emma as she navigates this loss of her role and trying to figure out what to do next with her life. You'll also enjoy the meddlesome grandmother in Make it Sweet - she obviously loves her grandchildren and wants the best for them and she for sure knows how to keep Lucian, in particular, wrapped around her pinky. I'm hoping Kristen Callihan will write books for Lucian's cousins just so I get to see his grandmother again!

CWs: mild sexism, mention of cheating, mention of parental death

by Tessa Bailey

Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷1/2

Many thanks to Jen for convincing me to give The Sweetest Fix a try with her rave review because this book is now a favorite of mine! I loved it so so much! I'm not new to Tessa Bailey's books but it's been a while since I've picked up anything new. The Sweetest Fix reminded me why I used to like her books so much! I also thought this book had a softness and warmth to it that was really well balanced out by the high-heat. It's delightful and I had ALL the fuzzy feelings while reading this book. Reese is a dancer with dreams of being on Broadway. When she wins an audition with a respected choreographer, she's sure it's finally her time to shine. Unfortunately, Reese misses the audition. So she decides to find Leo at his bakery, the choreographer's son, to help her beg for another chance. When she meets Leo, however, sparks fly between them and she refuses to go through with her plan. Instead, she decides to stick it out and audition for as many roles as she possibly can. I really really loved the characters in this book. I loved that Reese didn't easily give up on her dreams. It was also really refreshing to see how strong of her bond she had with her mom. When things were low, she would talk to her mother and seek her advice and I loved that. Leo, too, was terrific. The man had me swooning with how quiet, gruff, and cuddly he was. He was totally 100% into Reese and it was the cutest thing ever. Oh, and did I mention that he is a baker?? I love that romance authors keep blessing me with these baker heroes because that's all my heart desires. Also, Leo is the king of dirty-talking, which let me tell you, was the most unexpected thing ever, but I was here for it! Their romance is truly one of the sweetest I've read in a while. Yes, it does take place on a pretty quick timeline, but it worked for me and I really did believe in their connection. They have these nap dates together and I just want to know, where can I find a teddy bear boyfriend who can bake and will take nap dates with me?? Because I want! I also liked how the conflict was handled in the book. It made sense for this couple and made their happily-ever-after all the more satisfying. Highly recommend this one!
