Hiya, this is Katie, a friend of Nick's!
Nick recruited me to help out with this particular blog post in which I match songs to books she's recommended to me over the years. Does anyone else get this problem, where they read an amazing book and afterward they can't help try to find songs that fit the book/couple, even if it means taking on a, ah shall we say, creative interpretation of the lyrics? Because it's basically a permanent side effect of reading for me at this point. I just get so excited and proud when I find the perfect song that can relate to the books I read! So without further ado, here's the list I compiled so far. There's bound to be a lot of songs I left off, so I would love to hear what are some of your favorite songs to listen to for romance books!
As a side note, Nick asked me to do 10 books, and I ended up doing 13 because I lack self-control when given the opportunity to think all day about fictional characters. As such, I ended up leaving out a playlist for Well Met by Jen DeLuca. However, I'd like to take this time to direct you to medieval covers of songs that I can just picture performers playing at Ren Faire, They are truly a delight!
The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller
No more talk of darkness Forget these wide-eyed fears I'm here, nothing can harm you My words will warm and calm you Let me be your freedom Let daylight dry your tears I'm here, with you, beside you To guard you and to guide you
How did he do it? One minute her world was blackmail and anger and skeletons in dark, shadowed corners, and then Sam Moore walked into the room. It was as though he walked in an almost imperceptible beam of light, which rendered the terrifying ordinary, and the ordinary beautiful.

Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas
I don't wanna be alone tonight It's pretty clear that I'm not over you I'm still thinking 'bout the things you do So I don't wanna be alone tonight, alone tonight, alone tonight
Quote from Blue Eyed Devil:
“I’m sorry.”“Don’t apologize. At least, not for that.” His footsteps came closer, and I tensed. “What you should really be sorry for,” he continued, “is that for the rest of my life, I’ll have to avoid wine cellars to keep from thinking about you.”“Why?” I asked, woeful and shamed. “Was kissing me that bad?”A devil-soft whisper. “No, sweetheart. It was that good.”

The Roommate by Rosie Danan
I try my best to unwind Nothing on my mind but you Oblivious to all that I'll owe I'm hanging on to what I don't know So let's go to bed before you say something real Let's go to bed before you say how you feel 'Cause it's you, I always, always knew Oh, I always knew, oh, it's you
The way he felt about Clara, heart pounding every time she entered a room, greedy for her approval, laughing at everything she said. He hadn’t recognized the signals. Had always assumed he’d been born immune.

Teach Me by Olivia Dade
Lyrics from Your Song:
And you can tell everybodyThis is your songIt maybe quite simple butNow that it's doneI hope you don't mindI hope you don't mindThat I put down in wordsHow wonderful life isNow you're in the world
Quote from Teach Me:
How he could sit there by Rose’s side, holding her hand, full of so much love and kindness, she had no idea. He’d somehow managed to keep his heart open, even as the people he loved proceeded to damage it, one after the other. He had to know. She had to say it.“You’re a marvel, Martin Krause,” she told him. “Look at you. So many people you loved didn’t value you like they should have, but you’re still whole. Still loving and vulnerable and...amazing beyond words. A marvel, like I said.”

Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews
Lyrics from If You Need Me:
But if you need me, I'll be right thereWhen you're dreaming all your nightmaresI'll come tackle the monstersI'll find where they hide in the nighttimeIf you need me, I'll be right thereWhen you're happy and when you're scaredI can still be your shoulderI'll be by your side even if I'm not next to you
Quote from White Hot
“That nightmare you had with the cave and the rat, it wasn’t yours. It was mine. I don’t know why or how, but you attuned yourself to me. You’re sensitive to my projections. You pick them up even when I don’t concentrate on sending them to you.”I tried to pull him upright, but my arms were so weak.“I project when I’m under stress. The moment I pass out, my mind will react and try to purge all this shit from my head so I can rest. I’ll project while unconscious and you’re exhausted. You have no defenses. If you’re still here, you won’t be yourself. You’ll be me. You won’t know where you are or what you’re doing. I need you to go now, Nevada.”“No.”He was looking at me like I was the only thing that had ever mattered. “If you don’t survive, none of this is worth it to me. I love you.”

The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan
Lyrics from Mirrors:
'Cause I don't wanna lose you nowI'm looking right at the other half of meThe vacancy that sat in my heartIs a space that now you holdShow me how to fight for nowAnd I'll tell you, baby, it was easyComing back into you once I figured it outYou were right here all alongIt's like you're my mirrorMy mirror staring back at meI couldn't get any biggerWith anyone else beside of meAnd now it's clear as this promiseThat we're making two reflections into one'Cause it's like you're my mirrorMy mirror staring back at me, staring back at me
Quote from The Kingmaker:
Just our two bodies, sun and moon, just our souls, earth and water. We are the sky and the sea, and the horizon is where our hearts meet. Every part of that world is made by and from and for just us two.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
Lyrics from Addicted to Love
You can't sleep, you can't eatThere's no doubt, you're in deepYour throat is tight, you can't breatheAnother kiss is all you needWhoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeahIt's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough,You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
Quote from Take a Hint, Dani Brown
Her kiss was quick and soft and almost shy, as if they barely knew each other again. She tasted like tea and honey and comfort, and by the time she pulled away, he was light-headed, as always, grinning and drunk on her. Seemed like he’d never build up a tolerance.

The Love Experiment by Ainslie Paton
Lyrics from Closer:
All I want to get isA little bit closerAll I wanna know is,Can you come a little closer? Here comes the breath before we get a little bit closerHere comes the rush before we touch, come a little closer
Quote from The Love Experiment:
And on the way to the break room there was Jack, appearing unexpectedly at the end of the corridor, on his way back from where she was going, with a steaming cup in his hand. He looked distracted, eyes down on his cell screen. There was no one else around, though the noise of the office was their soundtrack, and not a lot but hot coffee stopping her from running to meet him and throwing herself in his arms. She slowed her stride and let him draw closer, until they were almost at the point of passing each other. He looked up to check his progress and broke into a smile that squeezed her heart. That sudden joy was for her, a visual echo of what her own face must be doing.

Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn
Lyrics from Jackie and Wilson by Hozier:
'Cause with my mid-youth crisis all said and doneI need to be youthfully felt, 'cause God I never felt young
Quote from Love Lettering:
But you were the first person in this city who made me feel I was more. To be able to see this city through your eyes, to be able to play games with you and laugh with you, to have you tease me about my tea and my posture and my terrible couch, to watch you create so many beautiful things—it has been the only thing that has made me feel like myself in these last months. It is more than I have deserved, but I am still so grateful.

Heya, bookworms! Nick here! Despite the title of this post showing my name, I had absolutely nothing to do with it. I only handled the technical aspects of this post. I hope you guys enjoyed this post from Katie as much as I did! I'm trying to convince Katie to write more guest posts for the blog and I'm usually very good at influencing her so you'll definitely be seeing her again!
