W.W.W Wednesdays (7)

Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Happy Wednesday, friends!

I hope you're all doing well.
I've been down for the past week or so. This pandemic has made me grateful for all my friends I've met online. They are truly keeping me sane and connected, in a way. School has been tough for me lately. I have so much that needs to be done, but I can only get through a couple of tasks a day. It's become a real source of frustration.

On a more positive note, I've started a new Turkish drama and I'm obsessed with it. I had seen a couple of folks mention it on Twitter and omg, it's so good. It has all of my favorite tropes including fake-engagement and enemies-to-lovers. The chemistry between the actors is FIRE. SEE BELOW.

OK I'll stop now ...

I got Lisa and Katie to watch it too and now it's all we talk about. πŸ˜… I've never watched a Turkish drama before but it's interesting how some Turkish words are very familiar to me since they bear a close resemblance to French and Hindi. If any of you watch it, let me know in the comments below! I want to hear all about your thoughts.

Let's get to my W.W.W post!

Can't Help Falling by Cara Bastone

Publisher: Harlequin
Publication Date: August 25th 2020

Star Quotient: ★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷

Having loved Cara Bastone's debut novel, Just A Heartbeat Away, one of my favorite romance novels of 2020, I was excited to pick up the next book in the companion series. Can't Help Falling was just as brilliant as the first book and I can candidly say that Cara Bastone is up there for me in my list of favorite authors.

I read my first Danielle Allen book, Work Song, for the very first post of this feature, so I had full intentions of also picking up Truth or Dare. Also, look at the abs on this cover hunk ... πŸ‘€ What gave me the push was Sharonda's TikTok and bless her, because Truth or Dare was exactly the steamy read I needed in my life.

W.W.W Wednesdays (6)

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Bonjour, friends!

How are you guys doing?
I'm ready for this week to be over. It's been a busy week for me and I'm very tired. I feel like I'm perpetually tired because weekdays and weekends are all blurred together now. Even though places are opening up over here, I'm not venturing out unless it's to get groceries every 2 weeks. I'm also incredibly home-sick and have been trying to figure out if I should go towards the end of the semester. I miss my family.
Anyways, at least it's officially fall, my favorite season of the year! The cooler weather has been very nice! How's the weather where you guys are?

Let's get to my W.W.W post!

Top Ten Tuesday (27): Books On My Fall 2020 TBR

Tuesday, September 22, 2020

Happy Tuesday, bookworms!

And Happy First day of Fall for those of you in the Northern hemisphere!
I hope you're all doing well! I survived a 5-hour stretch of meetings yesterday and I am officially all pooped out today. In more exciting news, Today's Top Ten Tuesday is all about our Fall TBRs. This is my favorite time of the year and with the year, we've had, we need something good to look forward to. I'm channeling all my energy into this season.

I don't normally do TBRs because I'm a picky mood reader, but I have a tentative list of books I want to read. It's a mix of ARCs and books I've bought/found for free on Amazon.

Anyways, let's take a look at my list, shall we?

Well Played by Jen DeLuca

Monday, September 21, 2020

by Jen DeLuca
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Berkley Romance
Publication Date: September 23rd 2020
Source: ARC received for review
Star Quotient: ★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷

Jen DeLuca returns to the renaissance fair with another heartwarming love story, this time featuring one of my favorite tropes - a romance that develops over text messages. While I thoroughly enjoyed her debut novel, Well Met, Well Played was an even lovelier story, in my opinion.

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko

Thursday, September 17, 2020

by Jordan Ifueko
Series: Raybearer #1
Genres: Fantasy, YA
Publisher: Amulet Books
Publication Date: August 18th 2020
Source: Library
Star Quotient: ★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷

I'm really loving the West African inspired YA fantasy that we've been getting this year. Raybearer is one of the most fascinating and unique books I've been lucky enough to read. I have to thank my Twitter friend, Rogier, for getting me hyped for the book and his recommendation didn't lead me astray. I was in love with every moment of this book.

W.W.W Wednesdays (5)

Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I hope you're all doing great. This week is going so slowly and I feel so lazy. Ugh. I've also been crankier than usual and have been super hungry all the time. I'm not sure what it is. On a more positive note, it's finally beginning to feel like fall here in Philadelphia. This week we have cooler weather and I even sported a sweater yesterday. Fall is my favorite time of the year so I couldn't be happier about it!

Let's get to my W.W.W post!

Top Ten Tuesday (26): Recent Favorite Covers Without People On Them

Tuesday, September 15, 2020

Happy Tuesday, bookworms!

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is a cover freebie. I asked my friend, Amber, for ideas and she suggested favorite covers that don't feature any people. It sounded like a fun challenge. I ended up having to focus on YA covers since there aren't many romance books that don't feature people.

Anyways, enjoy the pretties!

The Roommate by Rosie Danan

Monday, September 14, 2020

by Rosie Danan
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Berkley Romance
Publication Date: September 15th 2020
Source: ARC received for review
Star Quotient: ★★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷✷

The Roommate was probably at the top of my most anticipated romance novels of the year. I've had a soft spot for it ever since the deal was announced and I just inexplicably knew that it would be a book that worked in every way for me. Well, my instincts were right because I read The Roommate twice this year already and it's easily a favorite.

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole

by Alyssa Cole
Genres: Mystery, Thriller, Adult

Alyssa Cole is a rare author who can tackle any genre and excel at it. She's brilliant at everything she does and her new thriller is further proof of how immensely talented she is. When No Is Watching is not your typical thriller, but it for sure is a nail-biter.

W.W.W Wednesdays (4)

Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I hope you're all doing great. I was on staycation last week and I'm back to work this week and let me tell you, the struggle is real. I would very much like to go back to not doing anything but watching Love Island and cross-stitching. Speaking of cross-stitching, my new pattern is actually a pain in the butt. It's relatively complex and uses different threads that are very similar in color and it's just a mess. I should have gone with something simpler. I didn't read a whole lot. I think I'm in a bit of a slump if I'm being honest. I'm reading much more slowly. It's okay though. I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

In better news, did you guys notice the new fall-themed header? I love it and I hope you do too. I got it into my head thanks to Nereyda that I wanted seasonal headers. So I contacted Gabrielle, the illustrator I had hired earlier to design my header to see if she would be interested in designing 3 more headers for me. Even though I was being very extra, she agreed. πŸ˜‚Fall is my favorite season, so I'm very excited about this header and how it turned out. I hope you guys like it too! Any guesses to which doggies I will have for winter and spring?? πŸ‘€

Let's get to my W.W.W post!

The Psy-Changeling Series by Nalini Singh

Monday, September 7, 2020

Hi, friends!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends.
Today, I'm bringing you a fairly lengthy post about the Psy-Changeling series. As you may have seen on my Twitter, I read these books while we were in lockdown (thank you, library!) upon the insistence of my friends, Lisa and Katie, and I loved my experience with it. It's easily one of my favorite series of all-time and I look forward to re-reading it every year with my friends. I'm very thankful to Nalini Singh and these books for being something positive I could look forward to during this wretched year. I'm also really happy to now be a member of the amazing fandom! 😊

I was trying to brainstorm creative ways to summarize my experience with this 19-books series and it wasn't easy, but I really really wanted to chat about these books.

So, I've divided this post into 4 sections.

1) First, I'll share 5 reasons why I love the series

2) Next, because of my love of all things baked goods and desserts, I thought I'd pair the covers of each book in the series with a tasty dessert. It's my way of showing love to these books.
I also share Tweet reviews for each of the books as well as my rating.

3) I rank the male main characters in the series.

4) Finally, I play F***, Marry, Kill with the characters!

I know it's a lengthy post, but I hope you enjoy reading it!

August 2020 Recap & September TBR

Some Thoughts ...

Thursday, September 3, 2020

I debated whether I wanted to share this post on the blog today. I don't want readers to think that I'm beating a dead horse. Talking to Ari last night, however, made me realize that I needed to do it. I needed to word-vomit my feelings so that I can finally move on. I don't know that anyone even wants to read this, but that's okay. I'm doing this for myself. If you do read this, I'm emotional and not the most eloquent person so this post is going to feel disjointed and I'm sorry for that.

Secret Crush Seduction by Jayci Lee

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

by Jayci Lee
Series: The Heirs of Hansol #2
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Harlequin
Publication Date: September 1st 2020
Source: ARC received for review
Star Quotient: ★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷

One of my earliest introduction to romance novels was through Harlequin novels. I have fond memories of borrowing them from the public library and hiding them behind my textbooks at home to read instead of studying. Though I don't read as many of these books as I did in my teen years, I've been gravitating towards Harlequin's Desire Line recently, predominantly because they feature such beautiful and diverse couples on their covers. Earlier this year, I read Jayci Lee's debut, Temporary Wife Temptation, and loved it. As you can imagine, I was eager to pick up Secret Crush Seduction and it was as enjoyable as the first book for me. The Heirs of Hansol series is gearing up to be one of my favorites.

Top Ten Tuesday (25): Hungry Books

Tuesday, September 1, 2020

Happy Tuesday, bookworms!

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is "Books That Made Me Hungry". I love books that feature food, especially, romance novels that center around food. I'm not exactly sure what it is about them, but maybe it's just because I love food a little too much? Anyways, I had fun compiling this list of 10 (jk 11) books that had memorable food items.

Take a look!
