The Would You Rather Tag

Happy Tuesday, bookworms!

I'm doing a fun tag on the blog today. I saw Vera and Sabrina at Wordy and Whimsical do the Would You Rather tag and it sounded like a like lot of fun. I thought the questions would be more torturous but I found it was easy to answer most of them. 😊

Would you rather only read physical books for the rest of your life or only audiobooks?

This is an easy choice for me. I'd rather read physical books for the rest of my life. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy audiobooks, but I can only listen to certain genres (contemporary and mysteries). Audiobooks also take me forever to get through and I know I would end up being frustrated at the slow pace.

Would you rather know all the spoilers before you start a book or never read the last chapter?

I don't know if you guys know this but I always start a book by reading the last page or last paragraph. It's a habit for me now and it makes me feel at ease knowing that a good ending is waiting for me. This choice is a little challenging but I think I'll go for all the spoilers. I think knowing all the spoilers will give me a good idea of what's in the last chapter. Plus, I mostly read romance, and a lot of romances end with epilogue chapters.

Would you rather be stuck on a very long train/plane ride with a book you hate or no book at all?

Oh, this is easy. I'd rather have no book at all. I have motion sickness so I always have to take nausea pills that force me to fall asleep. This means that I hardly ever read on airplanes. Plus, airplanes are uncomfortable unless you can afford business or first class.

Would you rather read a book with a really bad ending or a book where your favorite character is killed off?

Bad ending! I'm not very fond of books that kill off characters I enjoy. In fact, I've DNFed many books that have killed off my faves. I just end up in a sour mood, angry at the world.

Would you rather love a book everyone hates or hate a book everyone loves?

Hmmm. I think I don't have much of preference here, but who wants to actively hate a book, especially a well-loved book?? So, I'm going with love a book everyone hates.

Would you rather read books by your favorite author but they’re all really bad or read books by an author you hate but they’re all really good?

Oh geez. Again, I'm not sure I would ever want to read bad books. I think I'll go with the second option. I'd much rather enjoy my books than read terrible books. Now, this is provided that I don't hate the author for reasons like racism, sexism, homophobia/transphobia, etc ... I would never want to read books from a garbage human being author!

Would you rather only ever read contemporary books for the rest of your life or fantasy?

Easy. Contemporary. I love a good fantasy novel but contemporary novels are my comfort reads. Contemporary is also the genre I read the most.

Would you rather own a signed edition or a first edition?

TBH, I don't care for editions and that sort of thing. I'm going to assume a first edition would be much more valuable so maybe it will end up being useful if I ever need some emergency cash.

Would you rather never be able to borrow a book from the library again or never reread your favorite book?

Eep, this hurts, but I'm going to go with never re-read my favorite book. I rely a lot on the library for books, and I've especially realized how grateful I am for the library's e-book system during this pandemic.

Would you rather spend the day in your favorite fictional world but never meet your favorite character, or spend the day as the villain and try to attack/kill that favorite character?

I'll go with the first option. I'm not in the business of killing off any fictional characters, especially not my favorite characters. I think it'll still be nice to spend time in a favorite fictional world, maybe meeting the secondary characters.
