You know those books that just draw you in from the very first page? You tell yourself you're only going to read one more chapter and the next thing you know you're clutching your Kindle to your chest while squeeing in happiness over the epilogue! Marrying His Runaway Heiress was that book for me.

I've made it no secret that I'm a ride-or-die Therese Beharrie fan and there's a reason for that: she writes some of the best romance novels and every book of hers is even better than her previous release. There's something magical about her writing and she never fails to make me swoon at the romances in her books. Marrying His Runaway Heiress is about Elena, an heiress and a journalist, who finds herself jetting off to Italy for an assignment while her impending arranged marriage she very much wants to avoid. Her assignment happens to involve Micah, a bigshot tycoon. Sparks immediately fly between the pair as they engage in a battle of wits. They don't start off on the right foot, but the attraction between them was unmistakable and unavoidable. The chemistry and tension they shared were so palpable. I couldn't get enough of it. I particularly loved all the subtle romantic moments that showed their growing feelings for each other. Like any romance novel, Micah and Elena had to overcome a few hurdles as they navigated their relationship. As always, they were carefully and realistically handled.

Both Micah and Elena were brilliantly crafted characters, which came as no surprise to me. I love how Therese's characters always just feel so genuine to me. I felt very in synch with Elena in particular. She was an intelligent and generous woman who was drowning from the pressure of family responsibilities. She pretty much did everything her father asked of her because all she wanted from him was his approval. Throughout the book, we see some major growth in her character as she began to see that she was capable of being loved and deserving of more love than she had received growing up. For me, it was Elena's vulnerabilities that made her an extremely endearing protagonist and yes, I was overjoyed that she found love with Micah, who was the perfect partner for her.

Ah, Micah! What can I say about Micah other than I am glad he gave me all the "half unbuttoned shirt",  "only sporting a towel", and sexy "neck-grabbing" content that my romance-loving self deserved? In an effort not to be too superficial (or too much of a hoe as my friends would say), let me just say, Micah was truly romance hero material. He was slightly uptight, quiet, and intense. He was a little bit manipulative at the beginning with how he used Elena to essentially get close to her father, but he was a good guy. He came clean to Elena fairly easily and was extremely apologetic to her. And how could I not forgive him after he rushed to Elena's aid when he found out about her being engaged to a man she didn't want to get married to? I found it wildly entertaining to watch him get flustered and extra grumpy by his growing and rather foreign feelings towards Elena. The poor (very rich and handsome) dork had no idea just how much of an emotional upheaval she had yet to bring to his life! Like I said, Therese Beharrie just knows how to bring the romance goodness to her books that I LOVE.

Everyone could do with an escape from real life these days and I think Marrying His Runaway Heiress is the perfect way you can do so. It will not only take you on an adventure to beautiful Italy but also take you on a romantic journey that you won't forget!
