Sign Language & Dyslexia In A Historical Romance & A Hopelessly In Love Hero

Hi everyone!

Welcome to yet another new series on the blog! My friend, Ari, was kind enough to gift me a Kindle Unlimited subscription for my birthday (thanks, boo!) and I thought I would share mini-reviews of the books I try along the way. If you have recommendations, please let me know in the comments below! Also, I have this weird craving for absolutely TRAIN-WRECKS of books right now, so if you have recommendations for those too, feel free to let me know!

I love a good historical romance about a wallflower finding love. I picked up The Bookseller and the Earl because I was intrigued by the heroine's desire of wanting to own a bookstore. Although this isn't a story I'll probably read over and over again, this turned out to be a very sweet story that delivered exactly what I was expecting of it. After many failed seasons, Addie moves to Bath to purchase a bookshop. There, she happens to meet Grayson, a widowed earl with a deaf son. The two of them connect when Grayson asks for her help with finding the appropriate tutor for his son. Addie's kindness and openness to wanting to help Grayson's son was very sweet, and I loved the bond she forms with the boy. It was really interesting to see the use of sign language in a historical setting. I also appreciated the depiction of Addie's dyslexia. The romance here was also sweet and was one that grew out of a friendship and a shared passion. I will say that I found some issues with the pacing of the story. I certainly think more time could have been spent developing the romance a bit more, but it didn't entirely affect my enjoyment of the story. I also just wanted a bit more of the friendship between Addie and the two girls she befriends in Bath. I'll be reading their books when they release! Overall, this was a good introduction to the author for me. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

EVERYTHING'S BETTER WITH KIMBERLEY

by Lucy Eden

Genres: Contemporary Romance, Adult
Publisher: Self-Published
Publication Date: January 31st 2019

This was another cute read from KU! The cover attracted me because who can resist a fun-looking adorable couple? Everything's Better with Kimberley is my first book from Lucy Eden, but it won't be my last. I enjoyed her voice a lot! The first half of this book was especially a whole lot of romantic fun. It had me laughing and swooning and I was very into it. Kimberley and Adam meet on an airplane and the chemistry is off-the-charts hot from the first meeting. I loved how Adam was just head-over-heels for Kimberley from the beginning. I love a good thoughtful and hopelessly-in-love hero. He was definitely a really sweet and romantic love interest and my shipper heart was here for him. Kimberley was a great girl herself. I liked her driven and hardworking nature a lot. She could be stubborn quite a few times throughout the book, but I got where she was coming from. The romance had the perfect dose of banter, humor, and steam. I will say that the second half got a tad bit dramatic for me. I enjoyed the chiller, more easy-going, rom-com feel of the first half of the book more than the second half. I finished the book very much satisfied though, so I can't complain too much. I look forward to trying more books from Lucy Eden!

Have you read either author? What are some books I need to try from Kindle Unlimited?
