Brighton Walsh always does a phenomenal job at delivering on the sweet and steamy. With this short prequel novella, she gives readers a story about a young pair of friends who have feelings for each other. Mac and Hudson have been friends forever and they have even decided to go to college together. Mac is very excited about the next stage of her life. Little does she know that Hudson is about to wreak havoc to that because he has decided that we wants to enlist. He decides to tell her the truth during a trip the week before they had planned to head out to college. In just a few pages, Brighton manages to make my heart hurt, swoon over Mac and Hudson, and just in general, fall in love with these two characters. Oh and did I mention this book was fan-yourself hot? I knew it would be though because Brighton Walsh writes some of the best steamy scenes EVER!  I look forward to reading more about the grown-up Mac and Hudson, since I've already grown to care about them a lot. It's going to be amazing and I can't wait!

by Olivia Dade
Series: Love Unscripted #1
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Self-Published
Publication Date: July 18th 2019
Source: Bought
Star Quotient: ★★★★
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷✷

I've only just discovered Olivia Dade (thank you, Therese!), but she has that quickly become a favorite author of mine. I am very much behind on reading, but the minute this showed up on my Kindle I knew I had to pick it up. Desire and the Deep Blue Sea was just the most precious book. It was sweet, romantic, and had really good rep of what it is like to live with anxiety. Just before she is set to go on a couples reality TV show set in the Caribbean, Callie and her boyfriend break-up. She enlist the help of Thomas, who works at the same library as she does and who also seemingly annoys her. Thomas has a huge crush on Callie so he is more than happy to accept her proposition. The reality show forces them to interact with each other. The relationship arc in Desire and the Deep Blue Sea was really well written. It's hard to even tell that this is a short story because Dade somehow finds a way to develop Thomas and Callie's emotional connection and chemistry beautifully without it seeming rushed. I love how open they were with each other - I especially liked watching Callie pour her heart out about her struggles with anxiety. Thomas deserves an entire paragraph dedicated to him. The man was so patient and sweet. I just loved how devoted and kind he was to Callie. He was just the sort of person she needed in her life to balance her out. He is what the kids call a "cinnamon roll", all soft, gooey and sweet. If you're in the mood for a charming and quick introduction to Olivia Dade's writing, this one is for you!

by Ruby Lang
Series: Uptown #1
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Carina Press
Publication Date: August 12th 2019

Star Quotient: ★★★1/2
Kiss Factor: ✷✷✷1/2

I haven't read anything from Ruby Lang before, but I've been meaning to read her books because they sound super cute. When Playing House showed up on Netgalley, I was quick to download a copy. I simply could not resist the cute concept as well as that cute cover. I did not realize going into the book that it was a short story, so it felt a little shorter than I would have liked. However, Lang's writing was very lovely, so even though I wished the book were longer, I still quite enjoyed my time reading it. Oliver and Fay are urban planners in NYC who get into a fake-dating situation. You all know how that's one of my favorite tropes, so naturally, I devoured that up. I liked both Fay and Oliver's personalities. They were both smart and kind individuals dealing with just a bit of baggage. The flow to their relationship was very smooth for me personally, but I would have liked to see more of them together - that's just a sign that I enjoyed these characters and their chemistry very much. I also liked seeing all the side characters in this book and I'm hoping we get to see books for some of them. Playing House was a nice little introduction to Ruby Lang's writing for me. I most certainly will be reading more of this series and this author in the future.

Dear Grace

Sunday, July 28, 2019

Dear Grace,

It saddens me that you are no longer part of this world. You were such a bright spot in this community and your absence is going to be felt deeply by many. When it dawned on me that we would no longer see you share your passion for books, fangirl over the shows and movies you watch, and see you spread positivity around the blogging community, I was devastated. It is just so unfair that you were pulled from this world at such a young age. F*** cancer for doing this to one of the most loving people I've been lucky enough to know. You were always so lovely and kind to everyone. You would always leave comments on my post that made me smile even when no one else was reading. You stood by Nereyda and I when it felt like the whole blogging community was mad at us. I know I am not alone when I say that you are going to be missed sorely, dear friend. I hope wherever you are, that you are surrounded by all the things you love and that you are at peace. Your little ones, your husband, and your family and loved ones are in my thoughts. You will never be forgotten. <3

Rest in peace, Grace.

I Need A Break

Monday, July 1, 2019

Hi guys!

I debated whether I wanted to do this, but I can't keep forcing myself to write posts when I have zero motivation at the moment. I also have a lot of my plate right now with exams coming up, and then, I'll have to get ready to go home, so I think it's best if I take a break for my mental health. I'll miss you guys, but I look forward to catching up when I'm back. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm aiming for the end of July or at the latest early August.

Take care, everyone, and I hope you read some fun books while I'm gone!
