Can Therese Beharrie please stop writing these stories that emotionally wreck me? Who am I kidding! I love the brand of torture that she delivers and I am obsessed with her words. I'm not one to enjoy books with the surprise baby trope, especially not if the baby is with another random hookup, but this author can publish a boring-ass story about plant fertilization and I would read the heck out of it. Yes, that's how much I love her writing!

Hunter and Autumn are the hero and heroine of From Heiress To Mum. Both of them 100% had my heart. My girl, Autumn especially was an absolute star. The woman had an undeniable strength to her personality that was awe-inspiring in every way. She was smart, kind-hearted, and a baking legend. What's not to love about her? I think what really made me love her the most though was her utter selflessness. When her knuckle-head (but very lovable) of an ex-boyfriend/current friend shows up at her doorstep in the middle of the night, one year after their relationship ended, with news that he was a father and needed help, she basically sets aside all her pain for him. She was so nice, but not the sort of heroine who let the hero walk all over her. In fact, she called out Hunter for his knuckle-headedness constantly and I loved that.

Anyways, as you can imagine, I at times wanted to throttle Hunter, but I also loved him so hard. He was actually a complete sweetheart, soft and lovely, just like most of Therese's heroes. He was at a complete loss about how to handle his new state of fatherhood. With Autumn's help though, he tries his best for his little guy, and ugh, you guys, why am I such a sucker for men with babies in books? They just melt me and watching Hunter try to be a good father to his son was really the sweetest. As you can imagine, Hunter and Autumn's relationship was full of angst, and I 100% devoured it. What I really love about Therese's stories are how open the characters tend to be with each other. She captures the complexities of human emotions so realistically. You can tell that she gives thought to how she writes her relationships' progressions so that they feel authentic. Hunter and Autumn's story was no different. It actually had me weeping in a corner for a hot second there, and I'm usually an ice-queen when it comes to books. You could say that the romance in this book had my poor little heart aching. I also have to give Therese a shout-out to how thoughtfully she presented Grace, Hunter's baby mama. She was not vilified in any way and she was never a threat to Hunter and Autumn's relationship.

From Heiress To Mum was a very sweet and angsty story that managed to put me through an emotional-wringer. If you are a romance reader and have yet to read Therese Beharrie's stories, please do yourself a favor and change that. You won't regret it!
