Authors With Books I Loved Who I Haven't Heard From In A Long Time

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

The other day, I randomly thought about a book that I read way back in my early blogging years that I hadn't thought of in years. I also hadn't thought of the author. Now, usually, I'm pretty great at keeping up to date with my favorite authors - I may or may not obsessively stalk their websites and social media for updates, but some authors do slip under my radar. So, I decided I wanted to waste time scrolling through my "read" shelf on Goodreads to discover if there were any authors that I had forgotten about who haven't released in years. This was NOT a good endeavor as it only served to upset me. I obviously do not know the reasons why these authors haven't written anything. I sincerely they are all doing fine and they are living their best lives, but I also don't want to forget their works because they are books that I loved. My post today is dedicated to all these authors and their books.

Katie Klein

Cross My Heart (Cross My Heart, #1)

This book was just pure swoony goodness! It was an opposites-attract romance that was just brilliant. I remember being completely shocked by the twist ending (it was GOOD, guys!).

Elizabeth Scott

Perfect You

Oh my gosh! I discovered Elizabeth Scott when I was fairly young and I just remember devouring all of her books in like a week. Perfect You was my favorite from her! She hasn't released anything since 2014, but I hope that changes!

Stephanie Meyer

Twilight (Twilight, #1)

Say what you want about the Twilight series, but I really really loved these books. I went to LENGTHS to get these books. I actually had a friend of my dad who live in the UK buy them for me and then ship them all the way from there. I'm sad that Stephenie hasn't written anything since The Host, which was equally great for me!

Sarah Ockler

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids

Sarah Ockler is another favorite YA author. I've adored most of her books. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids was the last book she released. If you haven't read it, please do! It's so lovely!

Hannah Harrington

Ahhh! Saving June! This book is really the book that started my love affair with road trips in fiction. It was so gorgeous and heartbreaking. Hannah Harrington released a second novel, Speechless, after this one, but that was back in 2012.

Gennifer Albin

Crewel (Crewel World, #1)

Gosh, this series was bonkers, in a really good way! It was a dystopia with great characters! Gennifer Albin released a few NA novels but hasn't released anything since.

Bethany Griffin

Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #1)

Oh, this book was so unique! It was a steampunk dystopia and the setting was just superb. Unfortunately, the author never released anything else after this duet. :(

Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade (Shade, #1)

OMG! This series was EPIC and it made me feel all the feels! The author has written a few other books but nothing since 2014!

Elizabeth Norris

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)

I have a very soft spot for Unraveling because it's one of the first ARCs I ever received. Of course, the book was also great. That ship especially was ICONIC! There is this one quote that I STILL remember all these years later:

“When the zipper snaps open, Ben pauses, his breath hot in my ear. "Janelle Tenner," he whispers. "I fucking love you.”

Elizabeth Norris was seriously talented and I am bummed that she doesn't write anymore!

Sabrina Elkins

Stir Me Up

Nereyda and I really loved this book. It was a really great older YA/NA romance. I remember the author being ill back in the day. She hasn't posted any updates anywhere on her social media since 2016, but I hope she is doing ok.

Abigail Haas

Dangerous Girls

Where is Abigail Haas and why has she not written more mystery books!! Her two books had me SHOOK with how brilliantly twisty they were!

Alyxandra Harvey

A Breath of Frost (The Lovegrove Legacy, #1)

I will forever be salty at Bloomsbury for not publishing the last book in this series. It was so fun and the ships were great. It followed three cousins who had witchy powers in a historical setting.

Lindsey Leavitt

Going Vintage

Another great YA contemporary author who wrote fabulous books! I've enjoyed all of Leavitt's backlist. It's a shame she hasn't released anything new in so long. :(

Who are some authors you've enjoyed in the past who don't seem to have written books in a while?
